Remington, Model M1903-A3 (03-A3), Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1942, S/N: 3758307, bolt action rifle, 24'' barrel.
CONDITION: The straight wrist walnut stock is very good, almost excellent. Stock has some small nicks & dings. The bottom of the wrist has a Circle & square ''P'' firing proof. The bottom of the stock, just in front of the mag has four circle proofs & two triangle proofs both with ''88''. The left side of stock, above the trigger is stamped ''RA'', a crossed cannon US Ordnance acceptance stamp, & ''FJA''. This shows the stock was made by Remington, the rifle was inspected by inspector Lt. Col Frank J. Atwood & accepted by Ordnance for the military. The metal carries a arsenal re-finish. The green parkerized metal finish on the receiver rates 95% with light thinning. The finish on the barrel rates 92% with some spots of thinning. The receiver band is marked ''U.S.'', ''REMINGTON'', ''MODEL 03-A3'', the S/N, & a small punch mark just under the S/N. This punch mark is a leftover mark from the Rockwell B Hardness test when the receiver was made. Multiple punch marks would indicate it was re-proofed when it was refurbished. The top end of the barrel is marked ''R A'', flaming bomb, ''6-43'', ''P''. The bolt handle is marked ''X'' indicating it was made by Commercial Controls, they made replacement 03-A3 bolts for rebuilding during WW2. The striker body, safety. Magazine cutoff lever, the sling/stacking loops, front barrel band, & front sight are marked ''R'' for Remington. The bore is excellent. Its bright & shiny with little wear. Two groove rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight with a receiver mounted adjustable, aperture rear sight. The stock carries a checkered parkerized steel, trapdoor buttplate. Nothing inside trapdoor. Rifle has both bottom sling loops with the third stacking swivel. A nice WW2 made & refurbished 03-A3. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 700 to 1400
