Harrington & Richardson Arms Co., Model: M1 Garand (CMP Rebuild), Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1954, S/N: 4794989, Semi-auto rifle, 24'' barrel.
HISTORY: During WW2 Springfield Armory & Winchester were the only manufacturers of the M1 Garand. Production would stop for both in 1945 when WW2 ended, but when the Korean war started production would start back up at Springfield in early 1952. In 1953 when production from Springfield was not catching up with demand, contracts to make M1 Garands would be given to the Harrington & Richardson Company & International Harvester. Production would stop in 1956 at H&R & International, but the last M1 Garands rolled off Springfields assembly line in 1957. A total of 6.1 Million M1 Garands were produced between WW2 & Korea with H&R making 428,600 of those, leading these to be scarce & collectable today.
Condition: The Semi-pistol grip Walnut stock is MINT. This is a modern CMP replacement stock. Bottom of pistol grip marked ''C.M.P.'' in a circle. The black parkerized finish rates 98% overall with minimal wear. The gas tube has some dings & scratches & shows rough machining marks. The rear of the receiver is marked ''U.S. RIFLE'', ''CAL. .30 M1'', ''H&R ARMS CO'', & the S/N. the right side of the barrel, under the Op-rod, is marked ''HRA D653448 6-54 RS33 FM''. The bore is very good. its bright & shiny with light roughness. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings. The rear of the receiver holds a fully adjustable aperture rear sight. The stock carries a parkerized, checkered steel trapdoor buttplate, nothing inside trapdoor. Rifle has both bottom sling loops with the third stacking swivel. Rifle comes with a green hard plastic CMP case with foam interior, & 12 En-bloc clips. A Beautiful CMP restored M1 Garand. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1200 to 2400
