Inland Division, Model: M1 Carbine, Cal: .30 Carbine, MFG: Mid 1943, S/N: 827441, Semi-auto rifle, 18'' barrel. The type 2, semi-pistol grip walnut stock is very good with a few minor scuffs & scratches. original finish has worn away from use & wood has added oils over the years. Stock has worn & shrunk over time & the metal is proud to the wood around the magazine/trigger housing, & the upper tang. The sling well is marked ''IO'' for manufacture at S.E. Overton for Inland. No firing proof visible on pistol grip. The black parkerized finish rates 80% on the barrel with spots of thinning/wear starting to tone brown. The black parkerized finish on the receiver rates 75% with thinning/wear & some brown patina. The receiver band is marked ''U.S. CARBINE'', ''CAL .30 M1''. The rear of the receiver is marked ''INLAND DIV.'' & the S/N. The end of the barrel is marked ''INLAND MFG. DIV.'', ''GENERAL MOTORS'', ''8-43'', ''P''. the bottom of the barrel is elector penciled ''N.C. D.L. #304916''. The left & right edge of the buttplate is electro penciled ''#304916'' as well. Its bright & shiny but has minor roughness & thinned rifling. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings. The rear of the receiver holds L-leaf flip up aperture rear sight. The stock carried a checkered parkerized steel buttplate, mostly worn gray with brown patina. Rifle has the left side forward sling loop & has the oiler bottle in the rear sling well as the rear sling mount. comes with a period correct tan canvas sling. does not come with a magazine. Period correct no bayonet lug. This rifle appears to be in all original configuration, as it left the factory in 1943. which is rare for M1 carbines as they saw lots of use & had many updates over the years.
