HISTORY: Persia (Iran today), bought & use many rolling block rifles, they bought some directly from Remington as well as buying surplus rifles on the commercial market from other countries. The Egyptian markings on the chamber were lined out when it was sold to Persia.
CONDITION: The two-piece straight wrist walnut stock is good. stock edges are worn down from use & sanding over time. There is a crack on the left side of the stock, runs between the forend nose cap & the front barrel band. The right side of the wrist has a 1'' crack/grain pop emanating from the bottom tang. The left side of the wrist has a wraparound crack emanating from the upper tang. The metal has toned to a copper like brown patina with spots of gun metal gray. Spots of thinned finish remain in protected areas on the receiver & around the stock line. The upper tang Remington address is worn away. The left side of the chamber is stamped ''H'', marking mostly gone. The top of the chamber is marked with many Arabic markings that have been line/crossed out. The right side of the chamber is marked with Farsi. Bottom of trigger guard tang has more Arabic markings. Rear barrel band marked with a faint Danish crown. The bore is fair. It is bright with some roughness & worn rifling. The barrel holds a worn barleycorn front sight with a stepped base/ladder V-notch rear sight. Ladder marked in Arabic, stepped base worn smooth & ladder elevator is missing. The stock carries a steel buttplate, toned brown with rust & roughness. The rifle has both bottom sling loops & the cleaning/clearing rod. has a brass hang tag on the trigger guard marked ''116''. A interesting Rolling block that served in Egypt & Persia.
