Izhevsk, M91/30 PU Mosin, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1944, S/N: 21243, Bolt action rifle, 29'' barrel. The straight wrist wood stock is good with various nicks, dings, dents, chips, & scratches from use/age. A stock lacquer has been added over the wood. Faint roundel cartouche on right cheek of stock. Metal parts in the stock like the recoil lug, forend cap, & sling well escutcheons have some rust & roughness. The metal carries a arsenal refinish & rates 90% overall with almost full coverage, just has spots of wear/thinning. metal has roughness/pitting scars under the finish & many markings have been worn/buffed away. The barrel shank is marked with the scope S/N ''44 1 4888'', a arsenal refurbishment diamond marking, the S/N and many faded proofs, the ''1944r'' marking is mostly gone with just the edges barely visible. The Izhevsk markings are gone off the barrel shank. The S/N appears to have been restamped as it would have been obliterated with the other markings. the underside of the receiver tang marked ''1944'' & with the Izhevsk arrow in triangle logo. No visible import markings. S/N matching bolt & buttplate, mismatched magazine floor plate. bolt body & its components marked ''02'' for Hungarian MFG at FEG in Budapest, indicating this might be a Hungarian rebuilt M91/30 PU. The bore is good to fair. It has strong rifling but with roughness throughout the bore & is beginning to darken. The barrel holds a post front sight with protective globe (loose in dovetail), U-notch leaf rear sight marked 1 to 20. The receiver has the Kochetov mount, PU scope rings, & PU scope mounted. PU scope rings are marked two faded Russian proofs. PU scope is a factory 237 NKV (Kazan) MFG & is number ''4417179'' (does not match rifle). They made PU scopes in 1943-44, & the majority were the SVT tube PU scopes, only a few thousand Mosin Tube PU scopes were made just before production ended in 1944. Total scope production for them would be less than 40,000. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate marked with the S/N on the upper extension. Roughness under the finish & light finish wear on edges. The stock has both sling wells & has a period correct Canvas sling with the leather ''dog collars''. Rifle also has a cleaning rod. A possible Hungarian Rebuilt PU Mosin that shows here honest wear & scars. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1400
