Spandau Arsenal, Model: I.G. 71/84 Mauser, Cal: 11x60mmR Mauser, MFG: 1888, S/N: 9077, Bolt action rifle, 31 1/2'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is excellent with a few small nicks & dings from handling over time. One spot of oil staining next to the buttplate. Four Imperial German cartouches running from the bottom of wrist to the belly of the stock. The blued metal finish on the barrel rates 92% with a spot of cleaned roughness exposing gun metal gray on the top of the barrel between the front & middle barrel bands, & some light rust emanating from under the rear sight. The receiver was left in the white (unfinished) from the factory, & is starting to tone to a brown patina. Other metal parts retain the majority of the blue, but have some light scratches & brown patina spots. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S/N, & in German script ''I.G. MOD. 71/84.''. The right side of the receiver is marked with one Imperial German crown over letter proof & ''1888.''. The left side of the chamber flats is marked with the S/N, a small crown proof, a crown over ''F.W.'' proof, another small crown proof, & ''11''. The top of the chamber flats is marked with a crown over ''SPANDAU''. The right side of the chamber flats is marked with three Imperial German proofs. The buttplate is marked with a German proof on the upper extension, ''B'', ''E'', & last two digits of S/N. Other metal parts have small German proof stamps. All visible S/N marked parts are matching, including the screws. The bore is excellent. Its bright & mirrorlike with strong rifling. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight, with a flip up ladder, V-notch rear sight marked 4 to 15. The stock carries a steel buttplate, left in the white, it is toning brown with spots of scratches/wear. The rifle has both bottom sling loops. A nice example of a Mauser 71/84.
