Spandau Arsenal, Model: I.G. 71/84 Mauser, Cal: 11x60mmR Mauser, MFG: 1888, S/N: 1616, Bolt action rifle, 31 1/2'' barrel. The straight wrist walnut stock is excellent as being lightly sanded & re-finished. Stock only has a few minor dents/dings dotted around the stock. There is some dark oil staining around the buttplate, from being oiled & stored in an up-right rack. Three faint Imperial German cartouches running from the bottom of wrist to the belly of the stock. The blued metal finish on the barrel rates 75% with some thinning & scratches, the chamber portion has toned to mix of brown patina & gun metal gray. The receiver was left in the white (unfinished) from the factory, & is starting to tone to a brown patina. other metal parts mostly retain their blue, but have some scratches & brown patina spots. The left side of the receiver is marked with the S/N, & in German script ''I.G. MOD. 71/84.''. The right side of the receiver is marked with one imperial German crown over letter proof & ''1888.''. The left side of the barrel is marked with the S/N, a small crown proof, a crown over ''F.W.'' proof, another small crown proof, & ''11''. The top of the barrel is marked with a crown over ''SPANDAU''. The right side of the barrel is marked with four Imperial German proofs. The buttplate is marked with faint unit markings, there is some rust pitting on top of the markings making them hard to read, but a ''K'' & ''X'' are visible. Other metal parts have small German proof stamps. The magazine cap is S/N mismatched (29), all other visible S/N marked parts are matching, including the screws. The bore is excellent. Its bright & mirrorlike with strong rifling. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight, with a flip up ladder, V-notch rear sight marked 4 to 15. The stock carries a steel buttplate, left in the white, it is toning brown with spots of roughness/pitting. The rifle has both bottom sling loops. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 500 to 1000
