UNIQUE SET, Colt, Officers Model Second Issue, CAL: 38 SPL, MFG: 1923, SN: 499411, Double Action Revolver, 6'' barrel.
HISTORY: The Montgomery Wards Horse & Rider Holster was made sometime between 1915 and 1925 and is affixed to a matching belt with 38/40 cal. loops. The gun itself, a 1923 Colt double action, was shipped December 18, 1923 to Belknap Hardware Store, Louisville, Kentucky for commercial sale. The gun was returned to Colt Co. to be nickel plated & fitted with ivory grips, the gun was reshipped Jan. 23, 1924.
CONDITION: The authentic ivory grips are very good, fairly solid with light cracking visible on the butt of the grips. The grain pattern is very pronounced & the ivory has toned to a beautiful mixed butterscotch color. The factory re-nickeled finish is excellent. The bore is very good, slightly thinned but bright with very light roughness. The gun has a u-notch rear sight & blade front sight. Mechanical operation appears to function properly. This revolver is accompanied by a leather gun belt with loops for ammunition. The belt holds a leather holster & sheath. The sheath has orange fray around the edges as well as a heart shaped decorative brass buckle with a piece of decorative leather woven to it. The knife holds a 5 1/2'' blade, with an ivory handle. The handle of the knife is in very good condition with the knife being fair overall. A unique set, with accoutrements. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
