RARE CASED Colt, 1860 Army (Original 8, full fluted cylinder), CAL: 44 Black Powder, MFG: 1860, SN: 1218, Single Action Revolver. 8 barrel.
The wood grips are in very good condition, solid with some dings and scratches, they seem to have been oiled or had some protective clear coat added. The gun metal grey on the barrel, cylinder, and ram rod is covered in a very thin brown patina with light rust speckling. The frame has very light shadows of case-hardening but is mostly covered in brown patina. The brass trigger guard rates 90% with slight age soiling and oxidation. The top barrel is marked ''ADDRESS COL. SAM L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA'', the left side of the frame is marked ''COLTS PATENT''. Has matching serial numbers on the: grip frame, frame, trigger guard, barrel, and cylinder. Bore is good, dark with fairly even roughness and a couple splotches of pitting but has very defined lands and groves. Mechanically fair with some back and forth and a little side to side play in the cylinder. The hammer and trigger mechanism does tend to stick in the half cock position, the gun will fire if you push on the hammer when fully cocked (likely due to a worn down sear). The rear sight notch is cut into the hammer, front bead sight on the barrel near the muzzle.
Comes in a wood case lined with red fabric with directions for loading colt pistols on the top of the interior of the case. The gun comes with two sealed percussion cap tins that appear to be either partial or full, an era appropriate brass powder flask, a bullet casting mold, and Hazard Powder Co. waterproof packaged paper cartridges with x-rays showing the bullets.
Antique, no FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 3000
