BOXED Thompson Center, Contender Steve Herrett Edition, CAL: .30 Herrett, MFG: 1985-87. SN: SH223, Single Shot Tip Up, 10'' barrel.
HISTORY: This is a commemorative limited edition target pistol, 500 of these were made. It is chambered in a wildcat cartridge, .30 Herrett, a shortened cartridge made from 30-30 that was optimized for 10'' barrels. This cartridge was made by Steve Herrett who was an avid hunter and sharpshooter, he was also known for his high quality wood stocks and grips. There is an image of Steve Herrett engraved on the left side of the frame and a target shooting silhouette engraved on the right side of the frame. The left side of the barrel has ''One of Five Hundred ''engraved on it with the top engraved ''Steve Herrett'' and the right side engraved ''30 Herrett''. There is factory scroll engraving throughout.
CONDITION: The wood grip and forend are in excellent condition with little to no visible wear. The bluing finish on the gun rates 99% with very light wear. The bluing on the trigger, trigger guard, and hammer has toned to a plumb patina. Bore is excellent, bright with strong rifling. Mechanically very solid, seems to function well. Blacked out Target sights, serrated front ramp sight and windage and elevation adjustable rear sights are screwed to the barrel. Comes in the serially matched factory cardboard box with an owners manual, the box is in poor condition. FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
