Mexican Colonial Trabuco Blunderbuss Pistol, CAL: appx 20GA, MFG: circa 1800's, SN: NONE, Flintlock Muzzleloader, 10'' barrel. HISTORY: In colonial Mexico, a Trabuco or blunderbuss pistol was a type of muzzle-loading firearm that served as an early form of a shotgun for close-quarters combat. The Trabuco blunderbuss pistol was considered effective for its intended purpose & gained a prominent place in colonial weaponry and historical narratives.
MARKINGS: There are no markings on this gun to give a better explanation or description of any history of the maker.
CONDITION: The wood stock is good. There is a repaired break on the front strap, a few cracks, edge chips & other contusions/scrapes. There is an old piece of leather hide wrapped around the forend, held by brass tacks. The stock is curved in imitation of the Model 1804 Spanish Pistol. The miquelet lock & metal components have fully toned to a smooth brown patina, with intermittent pitting. Bore is fair, dark & rough. No sights. Rather crude construction. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
