FANTASTIC Winchester, Model 1886 DELUXE, 40-82 WCF, MFG. 1890, SN: 44418, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The factory deluxe, checkered, flat pistol grip wood stocks are very good, having been cleaned, lightly sanded & reoiled. The stock previously had an upper tang crescent metal buttplate, which was replaced with a Winchester solid rubber recoil pad & needed a splice of wood to fill the upper tang void. The splice was well done & matches nicely, but edges are noticeable. The stock may benefit from restoring an original Winchester upper tang metal buttplate back into its original home. The stocks have a few light scratches & contusions remaining. The stocks have fantastic feathered & rippled contrasting grain. The pistol grip displays an ebony insert. The metal blue finish has worn to a mostly gun metal gray, but with some remnants of blue on the left side of receiver & in protected areas. There are spotty areas of cleaned pitting on the barrel & a thin spotty brown patina developing. Bore is very good, but with some cleaned roughness amongst solid rifling. The barrel holds an adjustable rear & silver pinched blade front sights. Buttstock & forend cap carry factory sling provisions, which carry the correct loops. Plain trigger. A beautiful, deluxe 1886 rifle, which presents well. Antique, NO FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 6000
