Winchester, Model 55, marked 30 WCF, MFG. 1932, SN: 1084831, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Tapered round Nickel Steel barrel,3 shot button mag. In 1924 Winchester introduced the Model 55 lever-action rifle as an improved modern version of the model 1894. Production lasted just 8 yrs until 1932, with limited production of approximately 20,500+. The model 55 & brother rifle the model 53 are two of the rarer lever rifles Winchester produced. The original walnut stocks are excellent, having been cleaned & lightly sanded, with added finish over the remains of the original finish. There remains evidence of minor light scratches & contusions, with overall appearance remaining excellent. Metal blue finish is a mix of original blue with added finish in areas of loss & over spotty areas of cleaned pitting. Coverage of blue finishes rates 80% on barrel 60% on receiver. Bore is excellent. The receiver has two added screw filled hole on the left upper shoulder for the possible mounting of a side mounted receiver sight. Barrel carries an adjustable rear & Lyman front blade sights. Serrated metal buttplate. Rarer solid receiver variation as most were take-down. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1200 to 2500
