J. Stevens A&T Co., Model No. 45, Cal: 25-25, MFG: 1896 - 1916, SN: 11242, Single Shot Rolling Block, 29 7/8'' Octagon to round barrel. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid. There are numerous minor scratches, scrapes, contusions & some black staining to what appears to be the original finish, which is thinning at the wrist & forend. The top of barrel is stamped ''J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. CHICOPEE FALLS. MASS. PAT OCT 29, 89'', while the left side is stamped ''25.25''. There is a ''2'' stamped in the underside of the barrel under the forend, indicating a No. 2 barrel. Matching SN stamped on both the lower tang & the belly of the barrel. The original metal blue finish to the barrel rates 60%, with areas of thinning toning to a thin brown patina. The receiver displays muted case-coloring. The receiver's upper tang is mounted with a sliding large aperture flip-up sight. The top of the receiver is fitted with a period correct J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. scope, while the barrel has blank filled rear dovetail & a flip-up globe front sight. Bore is very good. Stock carries a Schuetzen buttplate. A fine example of a Stevens single shot rifle. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 800 to 1500
