Remington, Model 81, 30 REM CAL, MFG. 1940, SN: 9949, Semi-Auto Rifle, 22'' barrel. An earlier production 81 rifle carrying the early generation beavertail wood. The original wood stocks are very good, as both have had the factory finish stripped, lightly sanded & simply reoiled. The stock has had an inlaid wood repair at the right side point of the forward comb, which was nicely executed. The wood shows very little remaining handling marks & has a lighter & very nice overall appearance. The original metal blue finish rates a strong & even 85% overall. The receiver, was once fitted with a scope mount, but currently carries 5 filler screws in the tapped holes on the left side. The barrel is fitted with a standard adjustable rear & small blade front sights. Bore is excellent, clean & bright. Stock carries the correct Remington checkered metal buttplate. 5 rd fixed magazine. A nice looking early 81 rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
