Winchester, Model 56 Sporter, .22 LONG R. Cal., MFG. 1926-29, SN: 656, Bolt Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered barrel. The original pistol grip wood stock is very good, with lots of minor to small scrapes, scratches & contusions to the original thinned finish. The refinished metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90%, while the original finish on the trigger guard & floorplate has worn mostly gun metal gray. Bore is very good. The receiver has been fitted with a Weaver Micro-Trac CK2.5, while the barrel carries an adjustable rear & standard front sight. Checkered metal buttplate. Original ''Winchester'' stamped magazine. Approximately 8,597 were produced over 4 years, but serialized with the model 57 rifles & thus the higher SN than total 56 production. Solid condition & fairly rare model.
