Colt, Model 1878, CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1878-89, SN: 21952, Break Action SxS, 30'' barrels. The side plates are marked ''COLTS PT F.A. MFG CO''. The original straight grip wood stocks are good & solid. There are minor edge chips along the buttplate, with numerous contusions, scratches & scrapes throughout. The forend has a couple good smoothed gouges. The laminated/twisted steel pattern on the barrels is visible, but the barrels have mostly toned to a dark brown patina, with consistent spotting & speckling. The side plates have also toned to a dark brown patina. Bores are fair, consistently rough, with pitting. The solid ribs holds a front bead. Stock has a smooth metal buttplate, with rust spotting/speckling. The break open is a little sticky, & is sometimes hard to open & there is a small amount of play between the barrels & receiver. Double triggers. The left hammer doesn't appear to hit the firing pin, it looks like it gets hung up on the sideplate screw just ahead of the hammer. Shotgun has some difficulties unlocking & opening. We recommend this firearm be inspected by a licensed gunsmith before use. SOLD AS IS NO RETURNS. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
