Description

Stevens (Savage), Model 5100, CAL: 20 GA, MFG: 1941-48, SN: NSN, Break Action SxS Shotgun, 28'' barrel. The checkered flat pistol grip stocks are very good & solid. There is a small hairline crack on the left side of the wrist, along with minor contusions, scrapes & dings to the finish. The metal blue finish on the barrels rates 50% & the case-hardened receiver has worn to a mix of metal gray & brown patina, with remnants of case-colors in protected areas. There's a simple engraving of a dog on the left side of the receiver. Bores are excellent, with visible striations from use. The barrel holds a small mid rib bead & front bead. Stock has a grooved plastic buttplate. Double triggers. According to John Callahan, Arms Historian for Savage Arms, guns stamped 5100 were made by the J. Stevens Arms Division of Savage from 1941 to 48. Appx 50,000 were made in that time frame. He indicated that the shotgun is basically a 311 & the 5100 stamp indicates a change in frame design to distinguish between the old & new designs. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
