RARE, Winchester, Model 37 Steelbilt, CAL: 28GA, MFG: 1936-37, SN: None, Single Shot Shotgun, Choke: IM, 2 7/8'' Chamber, 28'' Barrel. This is a very early, likely first year gun, with the early ''Pigtail'' break lever, which was discontinued late 1936 or early 37. Additionally, 28GA is the rarest of calibers & this example has the well known ''Red Letter'' Winchester stamp on the bottom of the receiver. The original straight grip wood stock is excellent. There are minor contusions & scrapes to the original finish. The blued finish rates 70% overall, with areas of thinning, scratches & scrapes toned to a brown patina. Bore is excellent, bright with striations near the chamber. The barrel holds a small steel bead. The stock has a checkered plastic Winchester buttplate. This is a very nice example of a rare & desirable Model 37, a great addition to any Winchester collection. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
