Thompson Center Arms, Hawken Rifle, Cal: .54, MFG: Modern, S/N: 436478, Percussion Muzzleloading rifle, No.11 caps, 28'' octagon barrel.
CONDITION: The straight wrist walnut half-stock is very good with some nicks, dings, & scratches from use. Brass furnished with a semi-pistol grip trigger guard & a patch box in the right cheek, the brass has patina & needs a good polish. The blued metal finish rates 92% overall with some spots of thing/wear & speckles of rust concentrated mostly by the end of the barrel. The lock plate has worn gray & is starting to tone brown, still some spots of the case-hardened finish visible in protected areas. There is some roughness, rust & corrosion by the nipple & on the hammer. The lock plate & hammer have ornate engravings. Right side of the barrel has MFG & caliber Information, right side holds the S/N & black powder info. The bore is good to fair. Bright & shiny with some roughness through the bore, one spot of concentrated roughness/light pitting from not being cleaned after firing. The barrel holds a beaded blade front sight in a dovetail, & a windage & elevation adjustable for zero, wide U-notch rear sight. The stock carries a brass crescent moon buttplate. The rifle has no sling provision. Rifle comes with a double brass ended, black composite ramrod. Double set triggers, front trigger can fire set & un-set. Mechanical function is solid.
