Pedersoli Italy (Dixie Gun Work import), M1873 Trapdoor carbine, 45-70, MFG: 1997, S/N: TD0243, Single shot breechloader, 21 '' barrel.
HISTORY: Modern Italian reproduction of the American classic Trapdoor Springfield. While these are made from far better modern steel, the action's locking design is weak when compared to modern smokeless loads & ammo fired should not exceed 18,000 CUP pressure limits like the originals. Some modern 45-70 ammo is loaded to this pressure while some hunting loads exceeded it so proceed with caution.
CONDITION: The straight wrist walnut stock is excellent with a couple superficial nicks & scratches from handling. The deep blued finish on the barrel & receiver rates 99% with the breech block & buttplate have a beautiful case-hardened finish( buttplate' s finish is slightly worn from shouldering). The left side of the receiver has the S/N, Italian proofs, & the importer stamp. left side of the barrel stamped with the MFG markings & S/N. the lock plate is marked with a American great eagle next to ''US'', ''SPRINGFILED''. The bore is excellent. Its bright & shiny with minor firing wear. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with a stepped base/flip up ladder, wide V-notch rear sight marked 1 to 5 on the base & 6 to 12 on the ladder. The stock carries a steel buttplate. Rifle has the factory sling ring & bar. Mechanical function appears solid. FFL Req - Value: 1000 to 2000
