Inland Division, Model: M1 Carbine, Cal: .30 Carbine, MFG: 1942, S/N: 73894, Semi-auto rifle, 18'' barrel.
CONDITION: The type 2, semi-pistol grip walnut stock is very good as being lightly sanded & re-finished. The sling well is marked ''JL B'' for manufacture at Jamestown Lounge Co. Jamestown, NY, their prime contractor was IBM, not Inland. No visible cartouches on the stock. The black parkerized finish rates 90% overall with some spots of thinning & wear. The receiver band is marked ''U.S. CARBINE'', ''CAL .30 M1''. The rear of the receiver is marked ''INLAND DIV.'' & the S/N. The end of the barrel is marked ''INLAND MFG. DIV.'', ''GENERAL MOTORS'', ''11-42'', ''P''. The top of the receiver, just ahead of the rear sight has a punch mark. This is a leftover mark from the Rockwell B Hardness test. The bolt, bolt handle, & wrist tang have the last three digits of the S/N stamped into them, this is indication of foreign rebuilt/refurbishment as the US did not officaly mare parts like this. The bore is very good. It's bright & shiny with thinned rifling & light roughness. The barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings. The rear of the receiver holds the updated fully adjustable aperture rear marked out to 300 yards. The stock carried a checkered parkerized steel buttplate, edges are worn gray. Rifle has the front sling loops with the rear well. Period correct no bayonet lug as they were added near the end of the war, & early push button safety. Rifle comes with one 15 Rd. magazine marked ''MN'' on the back spine. Mechanical function appears solid. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1000 to 2000
