Izhevsk, M91/30 Mosin-Nagant, Cal: 7.62x54mmR, MFG: 1942, S/N: 1325 (PG2599 on barrel in Cyrillic), Bolt action rifle, 29'' barrel.
HISTORY: In 1930 the new Communist Russian government would update the Mosin-Nagant rifle. They would standardize on the earlier dragoon length barrel for all the infantry rifles & updated the sights to a post with globe front, & a flat leaf, ramped base notch rear, as well as a few other smaller internal changes. These were still made with a ''Hex'' receiver until 1936 when the round receiver was introduced
CONDITION: The straight wrist arctic birch stock is very good with small nicks, dings, & scratches from use, as well as some small scuffs & spots of wear to the finish around the buttplate & the bottom of the forend. The stock is a Arsenal #1 (Balakliya Ukraine) made replacement & carries a post WW2 shellac finish, applied when it was refurbished after the war. Because of the refurbishment most cartouches on the stock are thinned/faded. The right cheek of the stock carries a square with diagonal line cartouche, as well as a ''2-2'' in box, & two crossed hammers inside a square on the top of the wrist. These are the MFG & quality control marks of arsenal #1. There are many more faded cartouches on both cheeks of the stock, belly, comb, wrist, in front of the magazine, & in both finger grooves on the side. The metal carries a arsenal refinish with light roughness in spots under the finish & thinned/faded markings, metal still shows rough machining marks from mid-war production. The blued finish rates 97% on the receiver with a couple small scratches. The barrel's finish rates 95% with some light scuffs & scratches nearing the muzzle. The top of the receiver band is marked with the import S/N. The barrel Shank is marked a partially visible hammer & sickle in a wheat wreath, over ''1943r'', over the Russian S/N, over a arrow inside a triangle, as well many smaller proofs. The top end of the barrel is stamped with ''IO INC'' import marks. S/N matching bolt, buttplate, & force matched magazine floorplate with the old S/N lined out (bolt appears force matched with thinned markings & mix MFG parts). Bore is good to very good. It's beginning to darken with strong rifling & light roughness throughout the bore. Has not been counter bored. The stock carries a blued steel buttplate, has finish wear on top ''hump'' & edges from shouldering. The stock has both sling wells, the cleaning rod, comes with a period correct canvas sling with leather ''dog collars'', a period correct cleaning/tool kit with canvas pouch (tools have some rust), & a period correct, two cell leather Mosin-Nagant stripper clip pouch. Mechanical function appears solid. A nice example of a post war refurbished Mosin-Nagant. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 300 to 600
