Kokura Arsenal, Type 99, Cal: 7.7x58mm, MFG: 1942-43, S/N: 11214 (22nd Series), bolt action rifle, 26'' barrel.
CONDITION: The semi-pistol grip Japanese Beech (Buna) stock is very good with various nicks, dings, dents, & scratches from use that have been smoothed from handling wear over time. Two-piece Japanese stock. The blued metal finish rates 50% overall, it retains almost full coverage but has thinned from wear, parts are toning brown, & there is speckled rust & roughness across the metal. Other metal accessories show more specked rust & roughness. The receiver band is marked with a ground off chrysanthemum (done after the war to surrendered rifles as a face-saving gesture), over ''TYPE 99'' in Japanese. The left side of the receiver is marked with the series mark, the S/N, the Kokura Arsenal logo, & Japanese inspectors marks. S/N mismatched bolt. The bore is very good. It's bright & shiny with lightly thinned rifling. Chrome lined bore. The barrel holds a barleycorn front sight with protective ears & a flip up ladder aperture rear sight marked 3 to 15. The stock carries a blued steel cupped buttplate that's toned brown with rust & patina. The rifle has both factory sling loops. Mechanical function appears solid. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 300 to 600
