EARLY Colt, Single Action Army (Pre-Frontier Six Shooter ), CAL: 44-40, MFG: 1884, SN: 105499, SAO Revolver, 4 3/4'' Barrel. The wood grips are very good, relatively solid with some play. There is some age soiling & edge chipping throughout & a couple of gashes on the sides of the grips. The metal holds a non-factory nickeled finish. The nickel finish on the gun is very good, near excellent, with some gun metal grey exposed but blending nicely with the nickel. The most noteworthy example of this wear is on the barrel near the muzzle. The gun was originally blued by Colt & was nickeled after the fact. The gun appears to have been substantially buffed in the refinish process thinning the markings on the gun. Most of the marks on the gun, with the exception of the serial numbers, have been thinned & are now only partially visible. Bore is fair, The rifling has thinned but is still pronounced & the bore is dark with even roughness throughout. Mechanically solid, seems to function well. The action has all four distinct clicks that one would expect from a SAA. The clicks in the action are very tactile & audible. A fixed front sight is integral to the barrel, a rear sight notch is cut into the frame. Comes with a factory letter providing some basic information about the firearm.
