BOXED Smith & Wesson, Military & Police Airweight ''Pre-Model 12'', CAL: 38 SPL, MFG: 1953-56, SN: C317731, DA/SA Revolver, 2'' Barrel. The factory checkered wood grips with ''S&W'' medallions are very good, near excellent, solid with minimal wear & a small chip on the front of the left grip panel. The metal holds a blued finish, the frame is an aluminum alloy & the barrel & cylinder are steel. The blue on the frame has thinned substantially & the majority of the finish has toned to a brown patina. There is some exposed gun metal grey on the edges of the frame as well as some on the right side of the frame near the patent roll stamp & on the top of the frame. The frame rates approximately 65% overall. The barrel & cylinder rate approximately 90% & have consistent use wear including some light edge wear, a drag line on the cylinder, & some wear near the muzzle. All of the standard markings around the gun are crisp. Bore is excellent, bright with strong rifling. Mechanically solid, seems to function well. The barrel holds a serrated fixed front ramp sight. A rear sight notch is cut into the top of the frame. The sight picture is all black. Comes in a non-serially matching box that is correct to the make, model, & era with some related paperwork & wax paper. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 900
