J. Stevens & Co., Light Frame Old Model Pocket Rifle, CAL: .22 LR, MFG: 1869-86. SN: 2910, Single Shot Tip Up NFA Exempt SBR, 10'' barrel.
HISTORY: these mid to late 1800's target rifles were meant to be portable, light weight, and accurate. They have stocks that slide into a dovetail cut on the bottom of the grip and are secured by a screw in the back of the grip. These antique ''Pocket Rifles'' are specifically exempt from the NFA and do not require an SBR tax stamp even though they have a short barrel and a stock.
CONDITION: The wood grips are excellent, solid with several light dings & surface scratches. The brass frame is very good with some tarnishing & some remainders of original nickel finish as well as some small scratches throughout. The blue on the barrel has toned to a thick chocolate patina with clean shallow pitting concentrated on the rear of the barrel. Bore is excellent, bright with strong rifling. Mechanically solid, seems to function well. The barrel holds a fixed front sight that is very loose in the dovetail cut & can slide off of the gun with minimal pressure. A fixed rear aperture sight is set on the top of the barrel. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 800 to 1600
