Winchester, Model 53, Take-down, CAL: 32 WCF (32-20)., MFG: 1927, SN: 988789, Lever Action Rifle, 22'' Tapered round barrel. 6 shot 2/3rds mag. In 1924, Winchester introduced the Model 53 lever-action rifle as a more modern version of the model 1892. Production lasted just 8 yrs until 1932, with limited production of approximately 15,000+. They were initially serialed separately, but in 1927 they were serialized with the 92 rifles that were still being assembled from remaining parts & later the with the next generation model 65 rifles that along in 1933. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, as lightly sanded & nicely refinished. The stocks have very few minor handling marks. The metal blue finish on the barrel rates 95%, with some light speckling. The finish on the receiver has fully toned to a plum/brown patina, with approximately 75% coverage. Bore is excellent & bright. The rifle is fitted an adjustable rear & elevated front blade sights. Serrated metal buttplate. A very nice looking example of a fairly rare model 53. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1200 to 2500
